Dr. Michael Covaney
Dr. Mike grew up in New Jersey, Michigan, and Illinois before finally settling in Virginia. He graduated from Hampden-Sydney College in 1993 with a degree in Biology. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (Cum Laude Honors, 1997) and his Prosthodontic training (2000) from Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry in Richmond.
Dr. Mike is a member of the American College of Prosthodontists. He is one of two practicing prosthodontists between Hampton and Richmond and has spent nearly 25 years treating some of the most difficult and fulfilling dental cases in the area. Drs. Mike and Sharon opened their practice in 2005.
A Prosthodontist is a dentist who has completed dental school plus at least three additional years of advanced training and education in a CODA-accredited graduate prosthodontic program. They specialize in treating dental and facial problems that involve restoring missing tooth and jaw structures. A Prosthodontist is highly trained in cosmetic dentistry, dental implants, and crown and bridgework as well as removable prosthetics and temporomandibular disorders (TMJ/TMD).

Dr. Sharon Cole Covaney
Dr. Sharon Cole Covaney was born and raised in Newport News, VA. Dr. Sharon graduated from Virginia Tech with a Business Management degree (Cum Laude Honors, 1993) and she then received her Doctor of Dental Surgery (Cum Laude Honors, 1997) from Virginia Commonwealth University/The Medical College of Virginia. Dr. Sharon furthered her dental education by completing the Advanced Education in General Dentistry program at VCU School of Dentistry from 1997-1998 and she also received training in Cosmetic Dentistry and Veneers from the Las Vegas Institute for Dental Studies.
Dr. Sharon began her dental career as an associate dentist for several years while also working in underserved areas of Richmond on a dental van before opening her own dental office in Newport News, Virginia with her husband, Dr. Michael Covaney. While establishing their practice, Dr. Sharon also traveled to schools in the state of Virginia, taking care of children and their dental needs.
Dr. Sharon is a member of the Pierre Fauchard Academy. She served as both Secretary and President of the Peninsula Dental Society.

Dr. Karen Cole Dameron
Affectionately known as Dr. D by her patients, Dr. Karen Cole Dameron is a highly experienced general dentist with nearly three decades of clinical expertise in restorative dentistry. She owned and operated Karen Cole Dameron DDS, PC, from 2007 until its successful sale in July 2025, building a reputation for compassionate, patient-centered care.
A Newport News, Virginia, native, Dr. D earned her undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Science in Food Science and Nutrition—an early foundation that shaped her interest in health and wellness. She remains a proud supporter of her Hokies. She went on to complete her Doctor of Dental Surgery at Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia and later an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, gaining advanced training in esthetic, restorative, and implant dentistry.
Throughout her career, Dr. D has served in a variety of clinical roles across Virginia and Pennsylvania, including private practices and public health initiatives. She is known for her warm approach, meticulous clinical standards, and dedication to her patients.
